The Quivering Pen is hosting a Friday Freebies giveaway. Woo-woo! Books for free!
Swing on over and enter for a chance to win a copy of Dolls Behaving Badly, by yours truly, or A Land More Kind Than Home by Wiley Cash.
I can’t wait to read this one and hopefully I’ll be able to nab Cash into a guest spot interview in the upcoming weeks. (Please, Wiley, please??)
Seward reporter Heidi Zemach posted a nice article about Dolls Behaving Badly and my writing process on Seward City News. Check it out when you have a minute but please, disregard the photo. It is NOT my best, hee, hee. Thanks for the story, Heidi. I miss Seward!
Other Alaska writing news
The Kenani Peninsula Writers’ Contest results are in! Read more in the Homer News article. I had the honor of judging the 7-9th and 10-12th grade fiction entries and was impressed and inspired by the creativity and skill. These kids rock!
I was especially impressed by 7th-9th grader Faeena Martushoff’s story, “Proposition Hairlip.” I know nothing about Faeena except that he/she is doomed to become a writer. The voice is so confident and breezy, and it flows so easily that the whole piece was a delight to read. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to interview Faeena soon, too.
Head’s up to Alaska short story writer Lucian Childs, who has two (two!) stories currently published in established literary magazines: Approaching Zero in The Puritan and The Letter in Rougarou.
