damselfly press accepted one of my poems for its 22nd or 23rd issue. So exciting! Can’t wait to see the issue.
Of course this means that my email inbox will soon be stuffed with other magazines rejecting other pieces of my work. It’s inevitable: As soon as I receive an acceptance or award, the rejections pour in like crazy. I think this is called karma.
But for now I am going to enjoy this little corner of success. I’m going to go upstairs, sneak in the freezer and eat the last cookie that my partner hid back behind the veggie burgers and frozen vegetables (nice try, eh?). My teeth will ache from the cold sugar and my throat will savor this sweet and unexpected gift, and for a moment I will be gloriously and wonderfully happy.
